30/6/2013 Armed Forces Day in Scarborough
An estimated 30,000 people crowded the streets of Scarborough on June 29th for Armed Forces Day. The main attractions included an aerial display by the Red Arrows and fly-by's from a Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane.
On a fine Saturday afternoon in June, tens of thousands of people lined the seafront and Town Hall gardens in Scarborough to witness breath-taking displays, shows and music.
Throughout the day attractions included an RAF Typhoon display, music by the Band of the Yorkshire Volunteers, beach bootcamp by Bodycomplete, a parachute display, an RAF Sea King flypast and a Standards and Veterans display. There was also a Battle of Britain Memorial flypast but the main attraction of the day was a display by the Red Arrows which wowed onlookers and proved to be a huge draw for locals and visitors alike.
Customers from Jasmine Park who went to see the days events said it was a wonderful experience and the day was a great success. One customer said " It was very emotional and gave me a lump in my throat. It makes you proud to be British".
The day was definately a great success and enjoyed by all.
